Ten found guilty of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to making malicious remarks about the couple's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A longstanding unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The couple married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
