Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
